Warmoring (1)

Haythia's bedroom, Darkrealms Castle
4:00am

Haythia could hear the drums beating, but she didn't get up. Every morning for three years the drums would sound through the castle at four and Haythia was forced to get out of her bed and train in the art of war, but for the past week her trainer, Andreas Seset, would wake Haythia up in the kindest of ways. As these thoughts went through Haythia's head, she felt the weight of the bed shift and without opening her eyes she knew the Andreas had come.
"Good morning love." He said gently. Haythia turned to face him. Andreas... Andreas was Haythia's love, trainer, and the right hand of the man Haythia hated most. The moment Haythia first set foot in the castle Andreas and Andreas alone had been kind to her.
"Morning." She said, but as her eyes met his she didn't see the usual calm content look on his face. No, this time a look of worry and concern was all Haythia was greeted with.
"Whats wrong?" Haythia asked. Andreas' sea green cat eyes held no light.
"Elleron..." Andreas paused. A flare of hate shot through Haythia's body.
"Elleron has decided that we go to war today." Andreas finished. Great. Yet another day ruined by the bastard Elleron. Haythia sat upright.
"Now?" she asked.
"He said that we are to be on the battlefield by sunrise."
Haythia cursed under her breath. Elleron. He was the man who brought her here. He was the man who ruined her life. He was the man that was using her. He was the center of all Haythia's hate.
"I'll... I'll be in the arena. Come down your ready." Andreas said getting out of the bed and heading for the door. Haythia could tell the he too was upset at Elleron's last-minute decision. Haythia got out of bed when she heard the door close and headed over to her fighting wardrobe. The dark morning didn't help her mood any.
"War. The idiot." Haythia said walking into her wardrobe looking for the right out-fit. Every "war" that Haythia fought for Elleron only lasted a couple hours, only on rare occasion did the "war" last more than a few days. They were more like really big fights and scrambles. Elleron always won. Sighing harshly Haythia picked out on old out-fit.
"Gods, I haven't worn this in forever." She said looking at her old leather sparing-suit. It consisted of a pair of shorts, a single-sleeved tank top, a right shoulder guard, arm guards, boots, and a belt.
"I wonder if the enchantments still work..." Haythia said to herself. The out-fit as two enchantments on it. One was that no matter how much Haythia grew, it would always fit her. The second was that when the armor was hit a couple times, a protective shield of magic would cover Haythia's body until any one piece of the armor was removed. Haythia took off her pajamas and put on the old sparing-suit. She looked at herself in the mirror.
"Well at least that enchantment works." Haythia said. She then proceeded over to her weapons closet. As she opened the closet Haythia cursed Elleron.
"Yam I eb eht eno ot llik mih." She whispered in goblin. Haythia looked through the blades in the closet, then she spotted the two she wanted. The weapons were two short swords in the shape of lop-sided diamonds, with smaller side of the diamond near the hilt and there was no hand guards on either of the blades. Haythia held the weapons firmly.
Elleron Rawdroll, vampiric king of the DarkRealms. He stole Haythia from her family when she was fifteen, bit her, and kept her in this god-forsaken castle for three long years.
"When this is over Elleron will finally pay for everything with his life." Haythia assured herself as she left her room.
"Everything."
Haythia had been human once.

The Golden Chair

The Golden Chair

Your uncle owns a big old barn house out in the woods behind his house. But your uncle has told you never to back there, "Something terrible lives there. Never go back there or you shall never sleep peacefully again." he would warn you. But you never really took his warnings seriously.
One day, your uncle had left the house and you were there all alone. After an hour or two you began to tire of all the old games and piles of junk in your uncles house. You ponder what to do and as you look out the window you see a sliver of red paint. You leave the house out the back door and head toward the old barn.
The walk to the barn was easier than you thought it would be. The path had managed to not get overgrown and you wondered what your uncle was hiding in the old broken down barn. Once you get to the barn you see that the front doors have been broken in and the lock and chains (that you presumed had kept the doors closed) had been melted. You step over a couple broken planks of wood and look into the barn. But you can not see the inside of the barn. It was just a black void. You look behind you. The sun was shining right into barn. Why couldn't you see inside? Curious, you slowly walk into the darkness.
The moment you sunlight left you skin, you could no longer see it was so black. But as you looked around, searching for a light, you saw a small glow in the distance. A kind of foreboding comes over you but you continue to walk towards that little light. As you get closer you a chair. A big armchair made of solid gold. As you stepped closer you saw a figure sitting in the chair. It was a young girl, no older than elven, with chestnut-brown hair and beautiful ocean blue eyes. Then your legs froze as you saw a boy with long waist-length silver hair and red-purple watercolor eyes walk out from behind the chair. He was wearing a long white trench coat that flowed out behind him, a sky blue shirt, jeans, and a pair of black sneakers. The boy looked about seventeen or eighteen. You watched as he circled the chair with the girl in it. "What is your name?" you heard the boy say in a voice that was as sweet as honey, but it stung like ice. The girl shook her head violently, tears shined on her cheeks. You wanted to go and help her, but you couldn't move. Your legs were frozen stiff and your voice was caught in your throat. the boy continued to circle the chair. "What is your name?" he asked again, there was no emotion in his voice. The girl again refused to answer. This questioning went on for a long time. You didn't really know how much time passed. Then all of a sudden the boy put his hands on the arms of the chair and looked into the girls eyes. "Tell me your name Mahogany!" He yelled at her. Obviously he had cracked. The girl shook her head once more, her lips pursed together. This confused you. The seemed to know her name. Why did he want her to tell him? You watched on, not having any other choice. The boy stood up strait. "You give me no other choice." he said yet again in a voice with no emotion. The girl started to squirm in the chair and more tears fell onto her cheeks. Then the screaming started. They were screams of pain and anguish and you could see that the girl was beginning to bleed from wounds in her arms and legs that you hadn't seen before. "Stop!" the girl screamed. A smug smile came over the boy's face and he nodded. The girl heaved a breath and in between tears she spoke these words: "Ecneitap... My name is Ecneitap..." and then she slumped back down into the chair. A light came out of the girls eyes and into the hands of the boy. He laughed as he closed his hands around the light. A wave of fear and terror overcame your senses as the boy turned his head and his eyes met yours. Just then the feeling came back to your legs and you bolted in the direction you came. "You'll never forget me!" You heard him call after you. "One day your light shall be mine! You just wait little one!" he yelled once more.
You tumbled out of the barn and tripped over a plank. You looked back into the barn and you saw no black void nor did you see the silver-haired boy, only the interior of the barn. With that you ran back to your uncles house. That night, nightmares of what happened haunted your mind and you awoke to find yourself sitting in an armchair. An armchair made of solid gold.

From Ink to Skin (4)

Part/Chapter four
DFF Encounter
As we drove I tuned int he seat to face Ecneitap, who was driving.
"So... Um, May I inquire as to what species you are?" I asked hesitantly. I was human, but there were many different kinds of people; Other than humans. Ecneitap took a turn onto a back road that I had failed to notice in the past/
"Oh. I'm three quarters elf, and one quarter troll. Most of my looks come form the elven in my blood and my temper comes from the troll." She said speeding up the car to 76mph.
"Cool. So, how old would that make you? Whoa, wait. Aren't you going a little fast?" I asked freaking out a little. Ecneitap just laughed.
"I'm forty. I'll be forty-one in a few days. And this road has no speed limit. One of the reasons I like it. How old are you?" She asked. I didn't answer at first. She was FORTY?! She looked like she was nineteen or twenty. But then I recovered.
"I'm eighteen. But my birthday isn't for a few more months. I said, still a little taken back on how young Ecneitap looked for her age. Ecneitap slowed down, took a right and drove into the parking lot of the main DFF factory.
"That was fast." I said getting out of the car.
"It usually takes me twenty-five minutes by taxi." Ecneitap stepped out.
"Another reason I like the back roads. It's much faster." Ecneitap shut the car door behind her. The factory loomed over us as we walked towards it.
"It got bigger.." Ecneitap said opening the door for me.
"They all do. Thanks." I said As I walked through the glass door. The inside of the factory was cold and Ecneitap's boots echoed on the metal floor. About every fifteen steps or so there would be a big glass window on either side of the hallway. Ecneitap stopped in front of the fifth window on the left.
"What is it?" I asked looking into the room behind the glass. There was a empty room except for the metal table in the middle. I could just make out a little bit of red on the table.
"This is where Aclen...." She didn't finish. She didn't have to. Ecneitap shook her head.
"C'mon." She said continuing to walk down the hallway. After a few minutes, Ecneitap and I finally found a DFF agent.
"Excuse me sir, but could you please take my friend and I to the Director's office?" I asked. The agent smiled broadly.
"But of course. This way." He said. The way he said this creeped me out a little. But we followed him. After a long walk of left and right turns we came to the Director's office. Ecneitap came in after me. The Director turned in his chiar when we came in. He had been looking at some paper work.
"Ah, Miss Lanita how are you today?" He asked. Acting a little too friendly. Then he noticed Ecneitap.
"Hmm? Who might this be?" He asked again before I could answer his earlier question. Ecneitep stepped up.
"It's just me Mr. Director, Ecneitap Tontret. Don't you remember me?" Ecneitap asked him. I could see the triumph in her face as the Director's face went white.
"M-my, Miss T-Tontret! How nice to s-see you again." He stumbled over the words. I had to restrain myself from laughing. Ecneitap sat down with a smile on her face.
--~oO0Oo~--

After an hour or two we got the Director to accept my resignation.
"Is there anything you would like to take from the vault before you leave?" He asked me. I stood.
"Yes I would. Could you please take us there?" I asked as Ecneitap and the Director also stood.
"Of course. This way." He said and lead us out of his office and to the vault. Once we arrived at the vault the Director opened it for me. Ecneitap was about to follow when the Director addressed her.
"Um, Miss Tontret, would you stay out here with me for a little chat?" He asked.
"Sure." Ecneitap said and winked at me. I listened in on their chat as I looked for my books I had given DFF to look at.
"So what brings you back to DFF Miss Tontret?" I heard the Director say as I found one of my books.
"Oh, nothing really. I'm just here to help Lanita out. She was a little shaky about the whole shabang." Ecneitap said.
"Is that all?" I heard the Director respond with a little resentment in his voice.
"Well.... I thought that if she was going to quit DFF I might as well try to get her to become my apprentice. I am qualified to be a Master Ink Summoner." She said, raising her voice, and seemed to be addressing me more than the Director. The Director didn't say anything. Then I found my other two books and started to walk out when I saw a beautiful quill and ink pot set. I took them and walked out.
"Mr.Director, may I take these with me?" I asked him showing him the quill and the ink pot.
"Yes.. You may." He said and showed us out.
